'A Whole New World' was the theme of Professor Jimmy Steele's keynote address to around 770 vocational trainees, trainers and advisers at the recent Career Opportunities in UK Dentistry conference held at Central Hall Westminster in London. The conference, now in its tenth year, was organised by the British Dental Association and the UCL Eastman Dental Institute and aimed at a broad range of dentists interested in the next stage of their career. Professor Steele addressed delegates about NHS dentistry, what the public's perceptions were of dentists as professionals, and the opportunities available to dentists during their careers.
Members of the panel
Professor Andrew Eder chaired a panel discussion which included Dr Barry Cockcroft CBE (Chief Dental Officer), Dr Alison Lockyer (Chair, GDC Council), Professor Stephen Porter (Director, UCL Eastman Dental Institute) and Dr Susie Sanderson (Chair, BDA Executive Board).
