Colgate Duraphat 5000ppm flouride toothpaste is a high fluoride toothpaste for the prevention of dental caries in adults over 16 years — particularly amongst patients at high risk from caries.

  • Clinical studies show that higher concentrations of fluoride in dentifrice formulations compared to regular toothpaste will provide greater anti-caries benefits, with increasing in increments up to 5000ppm fluoride.

How it Works

Sodium fluoride applied topically after tooth eruption reduces caries by inhibiting demineralisation and promoting remineralisation of the tooth surface. It is effective on both enamel and exposed dentine.

There is a clinically-proven dose-dependent relationship between the level of fluoride in a daily toothpaste and the degree of clinical anti-caries efficacy.1

The longer the duration of topical fluoride application, the greater the anti-caries benefit.

Results of a clinical study assessing the efficacy of Colgate Duraphat 5000ppm fluoride toothpaste for at home use, found that it resulted in the hardening of:

  • 54.9 per cent of the Primary Root Carious Lesions after three months2
  • 76.1 per cent of the Primary Root Carious Lesions after six months2
