At Colgate-Palmolive we are passionate about creating a healthier, more sustainable future for all. It is with this aim in mind that we have been partnering with dental professionals for over 100 years, but another way we achieve this is through our commitment to supporting community groups across the UK.

These initiatives range from donating products to those most in need, educating school children, offering dental care to those who can’t otherwise access it, and creating opportunities to change young people’s futures across the UK.

This community support was at its highest ever level in 2022 and is set to increase further in 2023.

Bright Smiles Bright Futures™

Colgate believes that every child and their family have a right to a lifetime of healthy smiles. Launched in 1991, our award-winning Bright Smiles, Bright Futures is amongst the most far-reaching and successful children’s oral health initiatives in the world. Globally, the programme has reached more than a billion children and families across 80 countries. In the UK, Bright Smiles, Bright futures has been running since 2014 and in 2022 the programme reached 1.4million UK primary school children. This year the programme will again reach 1.4 million through dental clinics and schools. Bright Smiles, Bright Futures provides the tools to educate children and get them excited about their oral health. All dental practices across the UK can get involved, with a wealth of resources available for you and your patients. You can view and download these resources here.

There are a multitude of hard-working charities and organisations who are supporting those in need. Our work with charities such as In Kind Direct and The Hygiene Bank help ensure that everyone has access to the products they need when they need them. Colgate’s donations in 2022 reached an impressive 1,979 charitable organisations and will reach even more this year. You can help ensure everyone in the UK has access to basic hygiene products by donating or volunteering with both In Kind Direct and The Hygiene Bank.

Those of you local to London may have seen our Colgate – Change Please Driving for Change double decker busses. Dental problems are among the most common health concerns of those in temporary accommodation or living on the streets. This affects an estimated 320,000 people in the UK and the partnership ensures that an essential oral health service is available to them. Colgate and Change Please are always seeking dental professionals who can offer their expertise and skills to provide dental care to those who need it the most.

Currently, the bus is operating three days a week in the London area, providing dental care to those experiencing homelessness:

  • Tuesdays (Lewisham)

  • Thursdays (Borough of Hackney)

  • Fridays (Croydon)

If you can help in any way at all, please let us know by completing this form. This could be volunteering your services on the bus and / or offering your practice space for more complex treatments.
