Yes, Colgate® FluoriGard Daily Rinse is available on the Dental Practitioners' Formulary as sodium fluoride mouth wash 0.05%. Colgate® FluoriGard Daily Rinse is also available in supermarkets and pharmacies.
WHAT IS THE ACTIVE INGREDIENT IN COLGATE® FLUORIGARD® DAILY RINSE?
The active ingredient in Colgate® FluoriGard Daily Rinse is sodium fluoride BP 0.05% w/w (225 ppm F).
IS COLGATE® FLUORIGARD® DAILY RINSE OK FOR USE BY CHILDREN?
Colgate® FluoriGard Daily Rinse should not be used by children under 6 years of age.
HOW DO MY PATIENTS USE COLGATE® FLUORIGARD® DAILY RINSE?
For patients 6 years and over use Colgate® FluoriGard Daily Rinse once a day rinsing with 5-10 ml around the mouth for one minute before spitting out. Advice to patients according to ‘Delivering better oral health’ guidance document states ‘rinsing with water, mouthwashes or mouth rinses (including fluoride rinses) immediately after toothbrushing will wash away the concentrated fluoride in the remaining toothpaste, thus diluting it and reducing its preventive effects. For this reason rinsing after toothbrushing should be discouraged.1

Sodium fluoride reduces caries by inhibiting demineralisation and promoting remineralisation of the tooth surface.
